Runner-up for the 2021 (ANSA) Visual Ethnography Competition!
So happy to find out this morning that I'm one of the runners up for the 2021 Australian Network of Student Anthropologists (ANSA) Visual Ethnography Competition for my "Nomadic Home" submission!
Not only have I won a sweet cash prize but my work will be featured at the Visual Ethnography Showcase at the Australian Anthropological Society (AAS) conference next week where I will talk about my work.
This is what the judges had to say about my entry:
"The vibrancy of Mongolian nomadic lives and their relationship to home are clear in this image sequence. The notion of people in place as home is supported by the intimacy of the multigenerational home of the 'ger', depicted in the final image with the grandmother feeding the baby inside the 'ger'. Busuttil's visual experience with Mongolian nomads clearly had an impact on how notions of the sedentary home can be disrupted."
